Mock Trial

An innovative, hands-on experience in the law for high school students of all ages and abilities.

Mock trial is an innovative, hands-on experience in the law for high school students of all ages and abilities. Every year hundreds of New Mexico teenagers and their teacher advisors and attorney coaches spend the better part of the school year researching, studying and preparing a hypothetical courtroom trial involving issues that are important and interesting to young people. New this year is a courtroom artist competition. Student artists may compete as part of a team or individually.

In February, the teams try their cases before judges and panels of jurors in courtrooms in Albuquerque. In March, the top teams advance to state finals in Albuquerque, with the winner going on to represent the state at the national championship, held each year in a different US city.

This year's qualifier competition will take place on Friday and Saturday, February 17 and 18, at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Courthouse ("Metro Court"), 401 Lomas, NW in Albuquerque. State finals are scheduled on Friday and Saturday, March 17 and 18, also at Metro Court. If you have questions about competition logistics, please This email address is being protected from spambots.
